Robert Strauss's Blog
December 31, 2009 marks the end of the first decade in the 21st century. Worldview Resource Group (WRG) was launched at the beginning of the decade with a vision to impact the emerging mission movements from the Majority World. The Co-Founders, Mark Zook, George Walker, and Robert Strauss, envisioned a new organization that would “shape the environment” of the global mission enterprise toward a worldview approach to cross-cultural ministry.
Dr. Tom A. Steffen was recruited to join the Board of Directors. The renowned missiologist in the 20th century, Dr. David Hesselgrave, was recruited as an advisor and adjunct trainer. Dell Schultze, with almost 40 years of experience in cross-cultural ministry and missionary training was recruited to be the Chairman of the Board of Directors. Strategic partnerships were formed in the regions of Ibero-America, India, and other locations.
Today, WRG has begun to shape the environment of missions in Western Canada. Agencies and First Nations leaders have been introduced to a worldview approach. With keen interest, they are exploring what it means as well as the implications and ramifications.
In India, WRG has established a strategic partnership with the India Institute of Intercultural Studies, a network of most of the national missionary training centers in India. Courses are prepared and taught at three levels of academic rigor – Bachelors, Masters, and PhD.
In Ibero-America, WRG has partnered with Recursos Estratégicos Globales (Global Strategic Resources), based in the Córdoba region of Argentina. REG is now the leading institution in the Latin Mission Movement providing resources for missionary training centers and trainers. Accredited by the South America Theological Seminary in Londrina, Brazil, REG provides training seminars in MA and DMiss programs delivered in Argentina, Paraguay, Chile, Mexico, and Cuba.
Overall, WRG personnel have: (a) written articles in missiological journals, (b) produced chapters about a worldview approach for books, (c) edited books about missionary training and narrative, and (d) designed training courses in six specific subject areas related to a worldview approach. They sit on the Boards of other agencies; they are frequently invited to speak about the subject of worldview; two have earned doctorates in missiology; one is currently writing a PhD dissertation; each is often asked to provide consultation to mission organizations; and each understands the providence of God in all that has been accomplished in this first decade of the 2000s.
